Wanja Wohoro is a songwriter, guitarist, performer, abstract painter and writer from Nairobi Kenya and Sydney, Australia. Her focus is intimate storytelling, with all mediums of her artistic work investigating identity, home, relationships, love and folklore within the feminine and Black/African experience.
In 2018 she released her debut album Matriarch which is a 9 track ode to coming of age, finding home and the complexities of youth.
Since then she has continued to record, collaborate and perform around the world. In 2021 she launched the ‘Black Glitter Newsletter’ which is a resource newsletter with tips and insights to navigating the independent music industry as a young musician.
In February 2023 she released her follow up EP, ‘dawa’. A five track return to her indie, folk roots. She currently resides in California, USA.
